Imam Khalid Abdul Fattah Griggs is the founding Imam of the Community Mosque of Winston-Salem (NC). He is a former member of the Washington, DC based Islamic Party in North America (IPNA) where he had various responsibilities including Director of Oppressed Peoples Affairs Department, Director of Prisoner Affairs Department, and Director Department of Information (Dawah). He was founder and the Director of the Institute for Islamic Involvement in Winston-Salem. Imam Khalid has served as the Editor of The Message International Magazine, a publication of the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), Central Shura Member (ICNA), Vice President (Social Justice) ICNA. Imam Khalid was the first non-Christian chaplain at Wake Forest University where he served as Associate Chaplain for Muslim Life. Currently, he is the National Chairman of the Muslim Alliance for Black Lives (MABL), a division of ICNA Council for Social Justice.
Imam Khalid has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally. He is the author of “A Brief History of the Islamic Party in North America” and wrote a chapter in the book “Muslim Minorities in the West” by Smith and Haddad. Imam Khalid is involved in several local and national social justice and interfaith initiatives.
